Christies Second Annual Green Auction

November 8, 2024

The 2nd Annual GREEN AUCTION to benefit the ENVIRONMENT: "A BID TO SAVE THE EARTH".

This year, I have been invited back for Christies 2nd Annual Green Auction, this time around I will be showcasing my image titled Everest Valley.

Everest Valley

Stunning blue layered mountain ridges in Nepal near Mount Everest. We went to Everest base camp, gazed upon the highest mountain on earth, had tea with the Lamas at the monastery and were just heading back down the valley in a helicopter when I saw this deep blue ridges view. I shot this image on film out the window as we flew and it remains one of my all time favorites and is on my wall. While most are looking up at the impressive Mt. Everest, this rare view awaits looking south. Fine Art Limited Edition of 100.

Proceeds to benefit Conservation International, Oceana, Natural Resources Defense Council and the Central Park Conservancy. It is a large photographic print of a part of this planet that I have a great love for. "Some years ago, I rented a helicopter and went from Kathmandu, Nepal to Mt. Everest Base camp. I had tea with the Lamas at the highest monastery there and saw the mountain of my dreams and took images.

As we turned back down valley to return to Kathmandu I saw most spectacular blue distant mountain ridges in the distance that we would be passing and I shot from the Heli. The combination of our altitude (18,000 feet) and the clear day cause the color temperature to go very blue to the eye and on the film negative.

The result was a view of the Everest Valley we never see."This is a fine art Giclee print on Museum matt Archival Hahnemuhle paper. Shot with a Mamiya 7 on film, from Helicopter near Everest. 30”wide by 24” high.

Last year my CENTRAL PARK print (see below) sold at this same auction.
